The oldest and the youngest members of Inverness Rowing Club's Sculling Squad pulled off a remarkable double at last Saturday's Aberdeen Sprint Regatta on the River Dee.
Having won the Veteran Single Sculls and the Under 18 Single Sculls, Dick
Ruane (60, from Nairn) and Alan Sinclair (16, from Munlochy) then got together
to win the Double Sculls event in a borrowed boat.
Dick Ruane said after the race "We had a very comfortable race and I am very
grateful to Alan for pulling me along when I got a bit tired !"
Other events in which crews from Inverness Rowing Club rowed were the Novice
Coxed Fours, Restricted Coxed Fours,
Veteran Double Sculls and Novice Single Sculls.
Close racing against strong crews from Strathclyde Park RC and Aberdeen BC did
not result in any more medals for
Inverness but Alan Sinclair came within inches of making it a treble when he
was narrowly beaten in the final of the Novice Single Sculls.
