A most successful Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships took place last Sunday 26th January at the David Lloyd Club in Renfrew with well over 240 competitors taking part using Concept II ergometer rowing machines.
Inverness Rowing Club achieved medal success in two events with Joe Wright recording an impressive time of 6 minutes 42.3 seconds to lift the silver medal in the 2000 metre Mens Veteran B event whilst Colin Sinclair, taking part in his first competition, w on bronze in the 1000 metre Mens Junior 12 event with a time of 4 minutes 16.9 seconds in a most exciting race in which he steadily overtook his nearest opponent to clinch his first medal.
Colin's elder brother Alan also performed well recording a personal best time of 7 minutes 10.6 seconds in the 2000 metre Mens Junior 18 event narrowly missing third place in his race by one tenth of a second.
The Club now looks forward to the Caberfeidh Motors Inverness Eights and Small Boats Head in just over two weeks time when the waters of the Caledonian Canal are expected to be a busy place on Saturday 15th February with this event which will include rowers challenging for Senior team positions in the Scottish Rowing teams at this season's international regattas.
