Caberfeidh Motors Inverness Eights and Small Boats Head and Scottish Senior Rowing Trials to be Held in Inverness.

Inverness Rowing Club is holding the Caberfeidh Motors Saab Inverness Eights and Small Boats Head on Saturday the 15th February which will incorporate the Scottish Amateur Rowing Association's national senior trials at the event.

The Inverness Club's captain, Roy Sinclair said - "the decision by S.A.R.A. to hold their senior trial on our stretch of water reflects the growing awareness among the national rowing community of the excellence of the Caledonian Canal as a tide free and sheltered venue for important rowing events."

The event is being held on the canal between Dochgarroch and the Boathouse near Tomnahurich Swing Bridge - a distance is of over 4500 metres.

The event is very popular and attracts crews from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and many of the Scottish Universities as well as the home club and crews challenging for selection to the national squad.
This year the race is being supported by Caberfeidh Motors, Saab distributor for the Highlands. John Mckenzie, Caberfeidh's Managing Director, said- "I'm delighted to support this growing sport which shares the same attributes as our cars - power with precision"
Spectators are welcome to come and witness the tremendous spectacle of top Scottish crews racing.
The Caledonian Canal is now regularly used by Scottish International crews for training and is acknowledged by such as Peter Haining, Scotland's World Champion sculler, as the best in Scotland for rowing.
There will be two Divisions (races) the first starting at 12:00noon and the second at 2:30pm.

The Boathouse is located two hundred metres beyond the Jacobite Cruises Office on the Torvean golf course side of the canal.
