Inverness Rowing Club were represented at the Aberdeen Eights Head on the River Dee last Saturday by Mens and Womens Novice crews in Divisions 1 and 2 respectively at this event, which was rowed in fine dry, sunny conditions.
Fast times were recorded by the most successful club of the day, Aberdeen University Boat Club who won four events; the Mens Open and Restricted 2 Eights while their Womens team were successful in both their Open and Restricted 2 events, in which former Scottish Junior Internationalist, Ruth Hobson from Munlochy rowed in both crews.
The Inverness Mens Novice crew recorded a positive performance in a time of 12 minutes 8 seconds, some 28 seconds behind Dundee University Boat Club who won this event category. The Inverness Womens Novice crew performed very well with their new line-up and despite a collision with another boat whilst shooting one of the arches of the many bridges on the course, recovered well to record a satisfactory time of 15 minutes.
The Inverness Mens Novice squad now continue with their training schedule in preparation for the Tideway Head of the River Race on the River Thames in London on Saturday 29th March.
