World Masters Championships

posted by Roy R Sinclair - 28 Aug 2003

Ten athletes plus several supporters from Inverness Rowing Club travel as part of a strong Scottish contingent to Vichy in central France for the 30th FISA World Masters Championship Regatta being held on the seven lane championship course on the spectacular River Allier from 4th to 7th September.

The Inverness party of Catherine and Iain Morton, Ian and Susanne Hunter, Mandy Towrie, Hazel Smith, Tom Baker, Brian Bell, Alastair Duff and Roy Sinclair are competing in a full range of events which include eights, coxed fours, coxless pairs, double and single sculls as well as some mixed events on the final day of the regatta.

Some of the party have attended many of these annual regattas over the past fifteen years with considerable success and it is with great enthusiasm and dedication that this group of athletes have trained over the past few months to meet the challenge from other international athletes with high hopes of bringing home more medals from this year's event.
