Scottish Amateur Rowing Association Open Indoor Rowing Championships

Last Saturday, over 200 competitors took part in the Scottish Amateur Rowing Association Open Indoor Rowing Championships which were held at Dalziel High School in Motherwell.

Competition was keen in the wide variety of age categories and some excellent performances were recorded, particularly in the younger age groups.

Inverness Rowing Club were represented by the two Sinclair brothers from Belmaduthy with Colin taking part in the Junior 13 section and Alan, now a student at Aberdeen University and a member also of Aberdeen University Boat Club, competing in the Junior 18 section.Both athletes produced their personal best performances to date.

Colin recorded a time of 8 minutes 1.1 seconds in clinching a Bronze medal with his strong finishing burst, whilst Alan strongly pulled past the initial leader in his event to win Gold in an excellent time of 6 minutes 46.0 seconds


The club currently has both womens and mens squads in training for the forthcoming Eights Head races, the first being the Aberdeen Head on Saturday 7th February followed by the club's own Caberfeidh Motors Inverness Eights and Small Boats Head on Saturday 14th February on the superb rowing waters of the Caledonian Canal
