Sinclair Success (and not the usual one)!!

posted by Roy R Sinclair - 19 Apr 2004

Last weekend, crews from Inverness Rowing Club travelled to Aberdeen to take part in the Aberdeen Boat Club's North East Regatta on the River Dee.

Windy conditions prevailed on the Saturday when the father and son combine of Colin and Roy Sinclair took part in the Restricted 2 Double Sculls being narrowly beaten by just half a length by an Aberdeen Boat Cub crew.

Later that day the elder Sinclair had an exciting row in final of the Veteran Single sculls but just lost out by one length to Bob Newton of Aberdeen Boat Club.

Sunday weather conditions were wet but slightly less windy, when the Sinclair combination again took to the water, this time in the Generation Double Sculls. A comfortable win in the semi-final preceded a most satisfactory three lengths win in the final ( young Colin's first ever win ), with both opposition crews being from Aberdeen Boat Club.

Next weekend sees a large representation of Inverness oarsmen and oarswomen taking part in the popular two day Strathclyde Park Regatta at Hamilton.
