Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships 2006

The Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships took place in Wishaw Sports Centre
on Sunday 5th February when Inverness were well represented by four members
of Inverness Rowing Club who all achieved personal best performances to
bring home one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals as a result of their
efforts.
The Gold and Silver medals were won by two members of the Wells family,
daughter Rachael winning Gold in the Womens Junior 12 event with a
excellent distance of 489 metres achieved in the 2 minute race time in
which she also beat the distance achieved by several athletes from older
age categories. Her Mum Carole won her Silver medal with her personal best
of 7 minutes 45.8 seconds in the Womens 30 plus category over the 2000
metre race distance.
Bronze medals were achieved in the Mens Junior 16 event by Colin Sinclair
with a fine time of 7 minutes 13.1 seconds (after leading his event for
fully 1000 metres) while Veteran Joe Wright in the Mens 40 plus event won
his medal in an excellent time of 6 minutes 38.5 seconds.
On the water, the club continues with its training and preparation for the
TENON Eights and Small Boats Head which takes place of the Caledonian Canal
on Saturday 18th February.
