A good entry of 51 crews was received for the Tenon Ltd Inverness Eights
and Small Boats Head which took place in cold but sunny calm conditions on
Saturday 18th February on the superb rowing waters of the Caledonian Canal
in Inverness. Rowed in two divisions, the first started at 11.30am with the
second at 2.30pm.
Inverness crews featured in the winners lists. In Division 2, the Inverness
womens crew of Doreen Waterson (bow), Ccaro;e Wells, Hazel Geddes, Carolyn
Ward, Bridget Senior, Bea Wallace, Susanne Standish-Hunter, Mandy Towrie
(stroke) and Meghan Hunter (cox) produced a fine performance in winning the
Womes Restricted 2 Eights category in a fine time of 19 minutes 24.72
seconds, with Colin Sinclair in Division 2 also winning the Mens Junior 18
Single Sculls in a time of 22 minutes 23 seconds. Inverness member Alan
Sinclair, rowing for Aberdeen Boat Club , also featured in the winners list
with this Eights crew winning the Mens Open Eights in a time of 15 minutes
16.17 seconds and the Mens Restricted 1 Eights in 15 minutes 42.15
seconds.
Fastest womens crew of the day was the Womens Open Eight from Aberdeen Boat
Club which recorded a fine time of 17 minutes 58.74 seconds in Division 2.

Next Saturday 25th February sees the Scottish Rowing Trials again being
held on the Caledonian Canal in Inverness when the cream of Scottish
oarsmen and women will be attempting to produce their best times over the
5000 metre time trial course in an effort to impress the national selectors
in advance of the upcoming international selections for this seasons major
regattas at home and abroad.
