Inverness Rowing Club at Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Masters Regatta
posted by Roy R Sinclair - 26 Jun 2006
Inverness Rowing Club members are competing on the waters of the River Thames
at Henley over the next two week period.
In the Britannia Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta, Alan Sinclair is a
member of the Aberdeen Boat Club's coxed four along with his fellow crew mates
Colin Williamson, Ross Cruikshank, Dave McNeill (stroke) and Meadbh Boyle
(cox), which tackles a crew from City of Oxford Rowing Club in their first
round race and are confident of progressing to the quarter finals on Friday.
Semi-finals and final are on Saturday and Sunday respectively and the small
band of Inverness supporters will be on hand to give enthusiastic support to
the Aberdeen crew in their determined attempt to become only the second
Scottish crew to achieve success at Henley Royal Regatta.
The following weekend sees another Inverness oarsperson competing at Henley
when Hazel Smith is a member of Double Sculling crews at the Henley Masters
Regatta.
Last year the Inverness squad achieved success in the Veteran Quadruple Sculls
and this year's squad are keen to emulate that success and bring another crop
of medals back home to Inverness.
