GB Trial, The AGM etc....

A Great Britain Assessment Time Trial was held recently on the Caledonian Canal in Inverness in which many top athletes took part. Fastest down the 5000metre course was Glasgow University Boat Club's Chris Logan in a fine time of 19 minutes 6.12 seconds followed closely in second place by his brother Jonny in a time of 19 minutes 11.08 seconds. Fran Jacob of Clydesdale ARC recorded the quickest Womens time of 21 minutes 2.65 seconds followed closely by Stephanie McDowall of Aberdeen University Boat Club less than a second behind Jacob. Andrew Barton of Strathclyde Park RC posted the fastest Mens Junior time of 20 minutes 56.05 seconds with Colin Sinclair of Inverness RC finishing in a time of 21 minutes 2.54 seconds. Fastest Womens Junior in a time of 22 minutes 58.86 seconds was Kayleigh Warwick of Strathclyde Park RC.
Two days later, Inverness Rowing Club held their Annual General Meeting in the Loch Ness House Hotel at which the following members were elected to serve as office bearers for the next 12 months:-
John Stevenson (Hon President), Paddy Walsh (President), Roy Sinclair (Vice President), Susanne Standish - Hunter (Captain), Maeve Lewis (Secretary), Hazel Geddes (Treasurer), Ken Sinclair, Neil Wallace, Hazel Smith, Dick Ruane and Tom Baker (Members of Management Committee). At this event, President Paddy Walsh presented the Southwell Stevenson Sculling Trophy to Colin Sinclair who was also the recipient of the Allan Garraway Sculling Trophy.
This coming weekend 4th and 5th November sees the two day Aberdeen Fours and Small Boats Heads events being held on the River Dee in which athletes from the Inverness club will compete in a number of sculling events as well as attending the Annual Scottish Amateur Association Awards Dinner being held on Saturday night in the Aberdeen Town House.
