HIGHLAND 2007 HAWCO SPRINT - SATURDAY 18th AUGUST 2007

Inverness Rowing Club is holding the Highland 2007 Hawco Sprint Regatta on
Saturday the 18th August. This year's event is part of the Highland 2007
programme and is again being sponsored by Hawco Inverness.
The event is being held on the Caledonian Canal over a 500 metre course close
to the Boathouse. The event is very popular and this year has attracted crews
from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Scottish Universities as well as
from the home club.
Also being held in recognition of the support provided by the Highland 2007
programme will be an exciting land based relay event on Concept 2 ergometers
in which pupils from Inverness Royal Academy, Dingwall Academy, Gairloch High
School and a team of juniors from various other visiting rowing clubs will
battle it out for the Highland 2007 championship ' certainly an event worth
watching which is expected to take place between 12 noon and 1pm on Saturday.
A full race programme, which includes junior, senior and veteran events, is
expected to start at 10.30am and be completed shortly after 4.00pm.
Spectators are encouraged to come and witness the tremendous spectacle of top
Scottish crews racing on a length of water which is acknowledged by such as
Peter Haining, Scotland's World Champion sculler, as the best in Scotland for
rowing. The Boathouse is located approximately two hundred metres beyond the
Jacobite Cruises Office on the Torvean golf course side of the canal.
