Aberdeen Fours and Small Boats Head of the River Dee - plus preview of Morrison Construction Fours and Small Boats Heads in Inverness

Crews from Inverness Rowing Club achieved considerable success at last
weekend's Aberdeen Head of the River Races on the River Dee.
On Saturday, current World Masters Champions Hazel Geddes (bow), Mandy Towrie,
Susanne Standish-Hunter, Hazel Smith (stroke) and Heather MacDonald (cox) were
worthy winners of the Womens Veteran Fours event in Division 1 with a fine
time of 12 minutes 4 seconds, which was matched by the same time recorded by
Colin Sinclair in his single scull.
On Sunday in Division 1, further medals were won by Tom Baker and Alastair
Duff in the Veteran Double Sculls in a net time of 12 minutes 0 seconds and by
Colin Sinclair in Restricted 2 Single Sculls. In Division 2, Hazel Smith and
Hazel Geddes won the Veteran Coxless Pairs event whilst Alastair Duff and
Colin Sinclair won their respective Veteran C/D and Novice Single Sculls
events with Tom Baker narrowly missing first place in his Veteran E/F Single
Sculls event.
Next weekend sees a large entry of fours and small boats competing in the
club's two day Morrison Construction Fours and Small Boats
Heads which take place on the Caledonian Canal on Saturday (Fours) and Sunday
(Small Boats) with crews from all over Scotland travelling to Inverness to
compete in this highly significant event in the Scottish rowing calendar.
Racing starts at 11.30am and 2.pm on Saturday for the Fours event with
slightly earlier start times of 11am and 1pm for the Small Boats event on
Sunday.
