Crews from Inverness Rowing Club achieved considerable success at last weekend's Aberdeen Head of the River Races on the River Dee.

On Saturday, current World Masters Champions Hazel Geddes (bow), Mandy Towrie, Susanne Standish-Hunter, Hazel Smith (stroke) and Heather MacDonald (cox) were worthy winners of the Womens Veteran Fours event in Division 1 with a fine time of 12 minutes 4 seconds, which was matched by the same time recorded by Colin Sinclair in his single scull.

On Sunday in Division 1, further medals were won by Tom Baker and Alastair Duff in the Veteran Double Sculls in a net time of 12 minutes 0 seconds and by Colin Sinclair in Restricted 2 Single Sculls. In Division 2, Hazel Smith and Hazel Geddes won the Veteran Coxless Pairs event whilst Alastair Duff and Colin Sinclair won their respective Veteran C/D and Novice Single Sculls events with Tom Baker narrowly missing first place in his Veteran E/F Single Sculls event.

Next weekend sees a large entry of fours and small boats competing in the club's two day Morrison Construction Fours and Small Boats Heads which take place on the Caledonian Canal on Saturday (Fours) and Sunday (Small Boats) with crews from all over Scotland travelling to Inverness to compete in this highly significant event in the Scottish rowing calendar.
