On Saturday 15th March in the Tideway Eights Head of the River on the River Thames, Alan Sinclair was the stroke man in the Leander Senior 2 crew which started at number 212 in a field of 420 crews.
In spite of starting halfway down the field where there was less assistance from the ebb tide, the crew raced past another 12 crews and finished in 9th place overall and just five seconds outside the winning time for the Senior 2 pennant posted by Durham University which started at number 15.
