Henley Royal Regatta
posted by Roy Sinclair - 30 Jun 2008
Two former members of Inverness Rowing Club will compete in separate events at
Henley Royal Regatta this week.
Colin Williamson (from Perth) and Alan Sinclair (from Belmaduthy on the Black
Isle) also developed their successful rowing careers as members of Aberdeen
University Boat Club and Aberdeen Boat Club and now are both members of the
Leander Club in Henley on Thames.
Following excellent performances by both athletes in earlier regattas and
events over the past nine months, Colin will race in the No 6 seat of the
Leander eight which meets the Christ Church (Oxford) and Martyrs crew in the
first round of the Ladies' Challenge Plate on Wednesday. On Thursday, Alan
will be in the stroke seat of the Leander(A) coxless four which will race a
crew from London Rowing Club in their first round of the
Visitors' Challenge Cup. Hopes are high for success in both
events, with Colin gaining his first Henley medal as a member of the Leander
eight which won the Thames Challenge Cup at last year's
Henley Royal Regatta.
