ABERDEEN SMALL BOATS HEAD - Sunday 16th November 2008

Inverness Rowing Club were represented by junior and veteran crews at the
Aberdeen Small Boats Head which took place in bright but variable headwind
conditions on the upstream course on the River Dee on Sunday 16th November.
In Division 1, the Mens Veteran Double Sculls crew of Alastair Duff (bow) and
Tom Baker (stroke) won this event recording an excellent time of 11 minutes
11 seconds to overcome the Aberdeen Boat Club crew stroked by Richard Matheson
by 23 seconds and in doing so achieved fourth place overall in a field of 50
crews. Hazel Geddes produced a fine effort in the Womens Veteran Single Sculls
in finishing in a time of 15 minutes 1 second just missing out on first place
in this event by 7 seconds behind Alison Bain of Victoria Bridge Rowing Club.
Division 2 saw a spirited performance by the Inverness under 15 junior members
by the Womens Novice Coxed Quad Sculls crew of Kirsty Guild (bow), Rozy
Shepherd, Eilean Mackenzie, Meghan Hunter (stroke) and her brother Shaun
Hunter (cox) which achieved a creditable second place finish just 17 seconds
behind a much older student crew from Dundee University Boat Club. Also
competing was the Womens Veteran Double Sculls crew of Susanne Standish-Hunter
(bow) and Hazel Geddes (stroke) which recorded a satisfactory time of 14
minutes 9 seconds in Division 2.
