Aberdeen Fours and Small Boats Heads + Hazel's Marathon Row

In preparation for the Aberdeen Fours and Small Boats Heads this weekend,
Inverness member Hazel Smith undertook a Marathon Row at Bannatyne's
Health Club, Inverness in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Scotland Special
Needs Action Project.
Along with three others, two of whom were on running machines for the 26 plus
miles and one cyclist who travelled a distance of 100 miles in 4 hours 44
minutes, Hazel did extremely well to cover the metric marathon distance of
42.195 kilometres on a Concept 2 indoor rowing machine in the excellent time
of 3 hours 17 minutes and 46.1 seconds, which was marginally outside the world
record in her age category.
Hazel intends to make a full recovery after her efforts to join with other
club members who will represent the club at the Aberdeen Head races being
staged on the tidal waters of the River Dee in Aberdeen. Members race in
womens coxed fours and quadruple sculls events on the Saturday and in mens
coxless pairs, mens and womens double and single sculls events on the
Sunday.
