Scottish Rowing Awards Dinner

At the Scottish Rowing Awards Dinner held in Dunblane on Saturday 15th
January, three members of Inverness Rowing Club were included in the list of
athletes nominated for awards.
Hazel Smith was nominated in the Veteran Oarswoman of the Year category for
her significant achievements throughout 2010 including three gold medals at
the World Masters regatta, whilst John Sharkey was nominated in the Veteran
Oarsman category for his outstanding achievements throughout the year. Also
nominated as part of the Crew of the Year category was Alan Sinclair as a
member of the Scottish Mixed Eight which won a gold medal at the Commonwealth
Rowing Championships in Canada.
Although Hazel narrowly missed out on an award to Ailie Ord of Strathclyde
Park Rowing Club, John was delighted to receive the Veteran Oarsman of the
Year award, with the Crew of the Year Award going to the Scottish Mixed Eight
in which Alan raced in the number 6 seat in Canada. :D
