In variable weather conditions last weekend at the Metropolitan Regatta on the
2012 Olympic regatta course at Dorney Lake, Eton, success was achieved by
Inverness scullers in a variety of events.
On Saturday in hot sunny conditions with a strong crosswind, Alan Sinclair was
a member of the successful Leander Club crew which stormed to a three lengths
win in this Elite quadruple sculls event. Also on Saturday, his younger
brother Colin, sculling in the colours of Glasgow Rowing Club, qualified well
in his heat of the Intermediate 2 single sculls event to subsequently claim
fourth place in the final of this event. Sean Corrigall from Orkney and now
rowing with Reading University Boat Club achieved a sound third place in final
of the Intermediate 3 single sculls event.
In damp, cool conditions on Sunday, Imogen Walsh, in company with her London
Rowing Club crewmate Stephanie Cullen, had a fine win in the Women's
Elite double sculls event, whilst Alan claimed another win in the Elite
quadruple sculls event and his brother Colin secured third place in the final
of his Intermediate 2 single sculls event.
Next weekend, Inverness crews will be competing in a variety of events at the
Scottish Rowing Championships which take place over two days on the 2000 metre
eight lane international regatta course at Strathclyde Park near Hamilton. :D
