With Imogen Walsh from Inverness in the No 2 seat, Britain's lightweight
women's quadruple scull were involved in one of the most exciting contests of
the day as they made up a considerable early deficit to take on and beat China
by eight hundredths of a second and a book a place straight into Saturday's
final.
The British crew were down by a second to China at 500m but hauled themselves
back into contention with a blistering second 500m. They were given the
leaders' verdict at the 1500m mark by two tenths of a second but to the naked
eye it looked almost too close to call throughout the final sprint to the
line. :D
