Masters oarsmen and oarswomen from many clubs throughout the length and
breadth of Scotland will be taking part in this year's annual World
Rowing Masters Regatta being held on the international rowing course in
Poznan. Included in the Scottish Masters Team will be a group of ten men and
women athletes from Inverness Rowing Club who will be competing in a variety
of rowing and sculling events.
Leading the journey to Poland will be the advance party of the Scottish
Masters Team with the fully loaded boat trailer which leaves Scotland this
Sunday with invaluable support from the ferry group DFDS Seaways on it's
crossing from Newcastle to Holland prior to the long overland drive to Poznan
to arrive at the regatta venue on Tuesday. John Crummie, passenger director
for DFDS Seaways adds: "We wish the team the best of luck at the Regatta.
We were delighted to help transport their boats safely to Poland onboard our
ship from Newcastle to Holland and we look forward to hearing how the team
performs at the event."
Included in the Scottish Masters Team are a significant number of previously
successful medallists from Scotland ranging in age from late twenties to early
seventies who have been training long and hard over the past few months and
hopes are high for significant medal success at this highly popular and well
attended regatta. A huge entry of athletes from clubs throughout the world
will also be involved in racing which starts on Thursday 8th September and
concludes with a range of mixed events on the following Sunday.
