Not one but two Inverness club members are part of Team GB which competes in
the very first World Rowing Cup regatta to be held in the southern
hemisphere.
Lining up to face the top international athletes from other nations will be
2010 World Champion quadruple sculler Imogen Walsh from Inverness and two
times Henley Royal Regatta winner Alan Sinclair from Belmaduthy in Ross-shire.
Imogen will race in the women's lightweight double sculls event along
with her crewmate and fellow world champion Kathryn Twyman, whilst Alan teams
up with Scott Durant, Matthew Tarrant and 2011 World Silver medallist
Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell to race in the men's coxless fours
event.
The GB Team has been in Australia for the past two weeks, making final
preparations at their training camp base in Canberra prior to travelling to
the 2000 Olympic regatta course at Penrith Lakes in Sydney for the Samsung
World Rowing Cup regatta event which takes place from 22nd to 24th March.
Congratulations to both north athletes on their selection with best wishes for
a successful regatta - from all at Inverness Rowing Club.
