Excellent results for Inverness Athletes at GB Rowing Trials + Inverness Rowing Club celebrates it's 25th Anniversary

Two Inverness athletes took part in the GB Rowing Senior Team Final trials at
Caversham, Reading on Saturday and Sunday, 20th and 21st April.
Excellent results were recorded by Imogen Walsh who won the women's
lightweight single sculls time trial and semi-final on Saturday and then
posted a significant win in the final of this event category on Sunday. In the
final, Imogen fulfilled her status as title-favourite as she moved out to a
strong lead before halfway.
"At that point the ego kicks in and you feel
like winning by as much as you can but today I kept telling myself not to be
silly, no heroics, let';s just complete the job" - commented
Imogen after her fine win.
After recording strong performances in both the time trial and semi-final of
the men's heavyweight coxless pairs on Saturday, in the final of this
event on Sunday, Alan Sinclair claimed a significant third place with his
crewmate Nathaniell Reilly O'Donnell just behind the two London 2012 Olympic
medallists crews of Mohamed Sbihi with Andrew Triggs Hodge and Alex Gregory
with Peter Reed. Alan later commented '' Awesome race.''
Both Inverness athletes are members of the GB rowing squad which trains at
Caversham in the Thames Valley in preparation for the forthcoming Samsung
World Rowing Cup series of regattas the second of which is to be held in June
on the 2012 Olympic regatta course at Eton Dorney, Windsor.
On Saturday, Inverness Rowing Club celebrated 25 years as a club with fun
events and races at the clubhouse on the Caledonian Canal during the day
followed by a celebratory dinner and ceilidh at the Drumossie Hotel in the
evening. Over 55 founder members, current, past members and friends gathered
together from near and far to celebrate this memorable milestone in the club's
significant history. Mike Morrice, President of Scottish Rowing proposed an
appropriate toast to the club to which Inverness President Paddy Walsh made a
suitable reply. A fine day and evening of celebration was enjoyed by all
present. :D
