Inverness club members featured successfully at two regattas last weekend, one
in Essen in Germany and one at home in Aberdeen.
At the 97 Hill International Regatta in Essen, the GB men's coxless four
on Sunday featured Alan Sinclair from Belmaduthy along with his GB team mates
Scott Durant and Matt Tarrant who raced with the 2011 World men's eight
silver medallist Nathaniel Reilly O'Donnell. They won their final in
strong headwind conditions in a time of 6:48.66 from Croatia with Serbia
taking the bronze medal position.
On the Saturday, Alan raced in the GB eight along with his crew mates from
Sunday's crew together with Matt Gotrel, James Foad, Tom Ransley, Dan Ritchie
and cox Phelan Hill to win their silver medal just 2 seconds behind Poland,
with France taking the bronze medal position.
Meanwhile, at the North East Regatta on the River Dee in Aberdeen, Inverness
members Hazel Geddes and Hazel Smith won both their heat and final of the
women's veteran double sculls against crews from Aberdeen Boat Club whilst
Dave Rothwell and John Sharkey just missed out on victory in the men's veteran
coxless pairs by the narrowest of margins to another Aberdeen Boat Club crew.
