At Henley Royal Regatta last week, Inverness was represented by Alan Sinclair from Belmaduthy who raced in the Silver Goblets & Nickalls' Challenge Cup for men's coxless pairs in a composite crew alongside his GB team crew mate Scott Durant.
On Friday, Sinclair and Durant led their opponents from Quintin Boat Club off the start and steadily increased their lead over the one mile and 550 yard course to win by over five lengths.
On Saturday, their semi final opponents were an international composite crew representing Hollandia Roeiclub, Holland which led the British crew for the first part of the course. Despite a strong and determined finishing burst by the British crew, they were unable to catch their Dutch opponents who crossed the finishing line with just over a one length advantage. The Dutch crew then went on to win the final on Sunday by a two length margin against their opponents from South Africa.
Next weekend sees the last of the three World Rowing Cup regattas which takes place on the famous Rotsee course at Lucerne in Switzerland where Sinclair and his Inverness GB team member Imogen Walsh will race in men's coxed pairs and women's lightweight double sculls respectively.
