HAWCO INVERNESS FOURS/QUADS AND SMALL BOATS HEADS 2015 - RESULTS REPORT

A fine entry was received for the Hawco Inverness Fours/Quads and Small Boats Heads which took place in largely sunny, breezy weather conditions on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November on the superb rowing waters of the Caledonian Canal in Inverness over a course of approximately 4500 metres from Dochgarroch to the Inverness Rowing Club Boathouse.

Much excellent racing was witnessed on both days of the competition with the host club winning the Women’s Veteran Novice Double Sculls on Saturday and the Women’s Novice Coxed Quad Sculls, the Mixed Veteran Quad Sculls in a composite crew with Strathclyde Park RC and St Andrew BC, and the Women’s Veteran Single Sculls on the Sunday.

In the Fours/Quads events, the fastest men's crew of the event and winning the traditional set of mounted antlers were the Glasgow Schools RC’s Junior 18 Quad Sculls crew stroked by Armstrong in a time of 14 minutes 55 seconds. The fastest women's crew was the Edinburgh University BC Quad Sculls crew stroked by Rhodahl in a time of 16 minutes 21 seconds.

In the Small Boats events, fastest men’s crew on Saturday was the Glasgow Schools RC’s R1 single sculler Armstrong in a time of 17 minutes 7 seconds who also recorded another fastest time in the Open Single Sculls on Sunday with a time of 16 minutes 26 seconds over the slightly shorter Sunday course. Fastest women’s crew on Saturday was the women’s R1 Double Sculls crew from Aberdeen University BC stroked by Ferguson in a time of 18 minutes 25 seconds. Fastest women’s crew on Sunday was the Glasgow Schools RC’s women’s junior 18 coxless pair crew stroked by Rankin in a time of 17 minutes 56 seconds.
