Top Inverness RC performers were the Junior Girls led by Heather Gordon who won a decisive gold medal in the J16 Single after she and her doubles partner Sara Johnston took silver behind ASRA in the J16 Double. Sara came a close 4th in the single behind the two ASRA scullers, so an exciting rematch is on the cards at the forthcoming Scottish Championships in June.
Racing the single for the first time, Rebecca Setford qualified strongly out of a large field, then repeated her efforts in the final, staying close behind the Glasgow RC leader to clinch a fantastic silver medal! This was after she had stroked the Novice Women's eight to a second place qualifying spot, then a storming fourth place finish just behind Belfast RC.
Rosie Young and Lucy Faulkner led their Novice Double heat over seven other crews, then claimed a bronze medal in a close fought final.
On the boys' side, first-time racer Archie Grey and his partner Alex Todd rowed an excellent Novice Double heat to qualify 2nd out of six crews, and they achieved the same 2nd place qualification in their Novice Quad with Robert Gordon and Kern Toussaint. Competition in the final proved too strong for a medal, but the racing experience was worth it.
Also racing for the first time, our youngest club member, Hamish Grant, tackled the J14 2X with Abi Davidson and J13 Single taking fourth place in both events.
This coming weekend the club heads south again to Lochwinnoch for Castle Semple Regatta. While many juniors are concentrating on exams, a dedicated group will be contesting junior, senior and masters events over a 1000m straight course, hopefully without too many white horses on the loch.
